The Kansas City Chiefs fell to 5-5 with a second straight loss, this time at the hands of the Denver Broncos who took a stranglehold on the AFC West with the 22-19 win.
After the game, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes made it clear he believes the team has the talent to compete with the best teams in the league, but the team hasn’t been consistent enough to find ways to win.
“I think we’re really talented and we’ve got a lot of great players, but it’s about being more consistent. I think it starts with me,” Mahomes said. “There’s times where I’m firing and we’re moving the ball down the field at ease. But there’s times where we go in spurts where I miss a throw or a [pass] protection call. We haven’t been consistent enough to win games. It starts with me.”
Star tight end Travis Kelce agrees.

In the latest episode of his “New Heights” podcast, Kelce, who just set the record for most touchdowns in franchise history, admitted the Chiefs have the players and coaching staff to make another run at a Super Bowl. However, he placed blame on the team for taking too many penalties and undisciplined play.
“Bunch of flags all over the place. Whether it was procedural penalties, which is the [expletive] most frustrating thing ever, or holding penalties, which some, I’m here for, others, I’m like, ‘what are we even doing?’ It’s frustrating because we’ve gotten to the point where we are 5-5,” Kelce said after the team’s second straight loss. “It’s even more frustrating knowing the kind of guys that we have, the talent that we have, knowing the type of coaches that we have. Everybody’s gotta just kind of look at themselves in the mirror.”
