The Chiefs’ QB acknowledges the strengths of the Saints’ head coach.

Kansas City Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes reflects on collision with Rashee Rice: “I felt like sh*t”

Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid have formed one of the NFL’s most successful quarterback-head coach duos in the past decade.

Together, they’ve won three Super Bowls and are favorites to claim another this year.

However, Mahomes recently surprised Kansas City Chiefs fans by showering praise on an unexpected figure: their next opponent, Dennis Allen, head coach of the New Orleans Saints.

As the Chiefs prepare to host Allen’s Saints on Monday Night Football, Mahomes and Reid are facing one of their toughest challenges of the season.

Despite a 2-2 record, the Saints are considered strong contenders in the NFC, with Super Bowl aspirations of their own.

New Orleans started the season with wins over the Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys.

Although they lost their last two games, both defeats were by narrow margins against playoff favorites, the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons.

Mahomes acknowledged that the upcoming battle will be far from easy, despite playing at Arrowhead Stadium.

He cautioned that the Chiefs are about to face one of the most intelligent and strategic minds in the NFL.

Mahomes on Allen’s coaching prowess

During Thursday’s press conference, Mahomes had high praise forAllen’sdefensive approach.

“I think he’s just a very intelligent coach, someone who does a lot of different things. He’s a game-plan-specific coach.

.

Mahomes pointed out that Allen’s strategies are tailored to each opponent.

“He’s not focused solely on his defense; he looks at what offenses do best and tries to take those strengths away.”

The Chiefs’ star also warned of the challenges his team will face against a physical, veteran-laden defense.

“They play physical, they play extremely fast, and they have a lot of great veteran players. They can get away with things because they know what they can and can’t get away with.”

Reid is ready for the showdown

While Allen may be a brilliant strategist, Mahomes made it clear that his confidence inReidhasn’t wavered.

Despite injuries to key players, Mahomes trusts Reid’s ability to adapt his formations and game plans.

“Coach tries to simulate tough situations in practice, throwing guys into different scenarios.

But there are limited reps, of course,” Mahomes explained. “Coach Reid does a great job of getting guys prepared and ready to go throughout the week of game planning.”

With the Saints determined to snap their losing streak and the Chiefs eager to continue their winning run, this matchup between two of the NFL’s top coaches promises to be a thrilling showdown at Arrowhead Stadium.
