Ukrainian reconnaissance men conducted a successful operation near Lyptsi, Kharkiv region. They managed to destroy a regiment of Russians and clear 400 hectares of forest, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine says.

“The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine’s Artan, Kraken, and International Legion active action units carried out a comprehensive successful operation to liberate a forest area located north of the village of Lyptsi, Kharkiv region,” the statement says.

The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine managed to capture Russia’s battalion defense area and destroy 3 motorized rifle battalions, the Storm detachment, and a reconnaissance company of the 7th separate motorized rifle regiment of the 11th Army Corps of the Russian Armed Forces.

“In addition, more Russians were captured during the assault, which will help to bring back the defenders of Ukraine from Russian captivity. After clearing 400 hectares of forest north of Lyptsi, the situation of the Russian invaders on this section of the front is deteriorating and close to hopeless,” the DIU states.

Peculiarity of operation

The peculiarity of the operation was that the infantry of the 13th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine Chartia was brought in with incomparably low losses.

“The successful DIU mission creates conditions for further ousting the Russian occupiers from the north of Kharkiv region,” the intelligence service states.

Russian offensive in Kharkiv region

On May 10, Russian troops attempted to break through the border of Ukraine from the Kharkiv region. Currently, fighting is taking place near Lyptsi, Hlyboke, Vovchansk, and Starytsia.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, throughout October 15, Russia attacked the Kharkiv sector 11 times in the areas of Volchansk and Starytsia. At the same time, Russia became more active in the Kupiansk sector. In particular, the Kupiansk sector was among the top three in terms of the number of Russian attacks, outstripping even the Pokrovsk sector.
