Since their first season in the WNBA, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have had a series of intense face-offs. They attempted to downplay their rivalry during the offseason, with Reese even avoiding a question about Clark last month.
However, it didn’t take long for the tension to resurface in the 2025 season. In the opening game, Reese had to be held back after a hard foul from Clark.
“They affected the game obviously a lot today. I’m always going for the ball. Y’all are going to play that clip 20 times before Monday.”
The young star hinted at disparities in WNBA officiating, noting: “I think we went up really strong a lot of times, and we didn’t get a lot of calls.”
She scrutinized past plays, surmising unfair officiating and stated: “Going back and looking at the film, I’ve seen a lot of calls that weren’t made. I guess some people got a special whistle. But just being able to play hard as best as we can.”
