Angel Reese made another slam dunk at the 2025 Met Gala.
The Chicago Sky star is spending Monday, May 5 — the day before her 23rd birthday — at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, celebrating the Costume Institute’s spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
For fashion’s biggest night, where she’s a member of the host committee, Reese wore a two-piece black dress with a striking white collar. According to Cosmopolitan, the look, which features a lace-up detail on the back, was designed by Thom Browne.

The silk dress features a cropped long-sleeve top that cuts off at the bustier. She paired the piece with a matching high-waisted long skirt that has a corset feature at the torso. The stunning skirt flared at the end and had a slight train.
Reese rocked plenty of bling with the outfit. She shared a post by Haute Living on her Instagram Stories, stating that she wore over 107 carats of diamonds by Graff. The jewelry pieces included pear-shaped earrings with a yellow stud, a yellow and diamond ring, a yellow emerald-cut diamond ring and a yellow and white emerald-cut diamond bracelet.
The athlete opted for flashy glam, slicking back her dark brown hair into a flared bob with a gelled down curl framing her face. She also wore a dark red lip and dramatic lashes.
Last October, Vogue announced that this year’s Met Gala would be co-chaired by Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour, with LeBron James as honorary chair. Reese is part of the host committee alongside Simone Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens, Doechii, Regina King, Spike Lee and Usher.
Fundraising for The Costume Institute — and with the spotlight on its spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” the dress code for the night will be “Tailored for You,” a nod to the exhibit with a focus on menswear and suiting.
According to Curator in Charge Andrew Bolton, the museum’s exhibit, which is inspired by guest curator Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, explores “the Black dandy as both a concept and an identity signifier.”
The new exhibit “presents a cultural and historical examination of Black style from the 18th century to the present through an exploration of the concept of dandyism,” according to a post on the museum’s Instagram.

Last year’s star-studded event was also a memorable one for the basketball player, as it marked her Met Gala debut and fell on her 22nd birthday.
Reese turned heads in a mint-green 16Arlington gown by Marco Capaldo. With her long black hair pulled tightly back in a ponytail, all the attention was on the sparkly look’s deep V-neck halter top.
The bottom portion of the dress also had some noticeable details, including feathers around the waist and a mesh floor-length skirt.
To top off the look, Reese wore custom Stuart Weitzman Eva 75 Slingback heels in seafoam green. The shoes were adorned with over 600 crystals meticulously placed by hand.
The WNBA celebrated her appearance at the event, writing in a post on X: “Training camp in the morning, Met Gala at night, preseason game tomorrow. Just another day in the life for Angel Reese.”
Her attendance at the 2024 Met Gala was met with some criticism, however, as it fell a day before the Sky played against the New York Liberty at Wintrust Arena. The preseason game was won by Chicago 101-53.

“A lot of people told me I shouldn’t have went to the Met Gala, that I wasn’t going to be focused playing against the runner-ups. And I went to the Met Gala, slayed the Met Gala in New York, came back, slayed against New York. It’s what I do,” Reese said during a press conference at the time.
Reese addressed the criticism after being asked about the double standards for female athletes in comparison to her male peers.
“I give a lot of confidence to so many different people, knowing I’m not one-dimensional. Women don’t have to be one-dimensional. They don’t have to do one thing,” she said. “I think that’s what’s growing the game.”

Reese is known for making a statement on the red carpet, as she did during the 2024 WNBA draft, where she was chosen as the seventh pick.
The athlete wore a shimmery black and silver hooded gown with a deep scoop neckline and an open back.
Speaking to her love of fashion and style, Reese told PEOPLE in July 2024: “My nails and hair and stuff are always done.”
“I’m being the girly girl on the court but still having that dog mentality and being able to go out there and compete too,” she said.
