Caitlin Clark Sends Strong Message To ‘Incredible’ Fever Fans After Win vs. Mercury
Caitlin Clark made up for lost time on Friday after returning from the WNBA Olympic break. The season was put on hold for a month on account of the Paris Games, and it is clear that Clark wanted to send a message in her first game back.
The rookie sensation led the Indiana Fever to a big win against the Phoenix Mercury, 98-89, dropping a game-high 29 points on 8-of-16 shooting, to go along with five rebounds, 10 assists and four triples in 36 minutes of action.
It was another tremendous performance from the 22-year-old, who is now picking up right where she left off before the mid-season break.
After the game, Clark sent a special shoutout to the fans as she made her way back to the locker room at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. It’s safe to say that the former Iowa superstar was pretty hyped after the win.
“Good way to start the second half,” she said. “Big win for us. Shout out to our fans. our fans were incredible. So, proud of the girls. Another one on Sunday. Let’s get it!”
As Clark said, the fans played a pivotal role in Friday’s victory, as they showed how they, too, have missed the WNBA action following the Olympic break.
The Indiana faithful will need to be in full force again on Sunday as Clark and Co. host the Seattle Storm in what should be another entertaining matchup.
The Fever enter Sunday’s contest with a 12-15 record. They are currently ranked seventh in the WNBA, with only eight teams able to qualify for the playoffs.
