“No faith in the Edmonton Oilers”: Connor McDavid’s talent might not be “enough” for Stanley Cup push says NHL analyst

Connor McDavid, one of the most talented and famous players in the NHL, proved his worth on the ice recently as the Edmonton Oilers are now enjoying a winning streak after going through a tough time.
The team has won their last three matches against the Utah Hockey Club, New York Rangers and the New York Islanders. With their next match being against the Winnipeg Jets tonight, NHL analyst Craig Button spoke about what he feels about the Edmonton Oilers’ situation on the TSN’s Hockey broadcast.
NHL Analyst Believes In Connor McDavid’s Talent But Has “No Faith” In The Edmonton Oilers
Three crucial storylines to follow a month out from the playoffs
NHL analyst Craig Button believes that even though the Edmonton Oilers have improved themselves and are on a winning streak, they dont stand a chance to compete for the Stanley Cup.
NHL analyst Craig Button said, “I know they have McDavid, I know they have Draisaitl, and I know they’re massive difference-makers…you can never underestimate them. But I no longer have faith in the Edmonton Oilers as a Stanley Cup contender.”

NHL analyst Craig Button added that the Edmonton Oilers are not a “good enough team, a deep enough team, or a fast enough team” which will be able to win against the Western Conference teams.
He added, “My faith in the Edmonton Oilers as Stanley Cup contenders has just about vanished.”
Connor McDavid, the star player and the captain of the Edmonton Oilers, has been going through some adjustment issues since he returned from the 4 Nations Face Off. The star player had admitted this in an interview a few weeks ago when the Edmonton Oilers were continuously losing matches.
In this season, the team has lost seven matches in a row which had their fans stressed. However, things changed in the last three matches and especially at the match against the Utah Hockey Club.
The Edmonton Oilers scored seven goals against the Utah Hockey Club and Connor McDavid is now the first and only player in the NHL to post three points in a match, according to the NHL public relations department on social media.
Fans are still hopeful for the Edmonton Oilers and are hoping for a win tonight as they gear up to play against the Winnipeg Jets.
Oilers’ Connor McDavid leaves game vs. Jets with lower-body injury

The Edmonton Oilers lost another star forward on Thursday.
Already down Leon Draisaitl, captain Connor McDavid suffered a lower-body injury against the Winnipeg Jets and was ruled out for the third period by the Oilers.
The injury appeared to occur during McDavid’s final shift of the second period.
As the star forward chased a puck in the Winnipeg zone, Jets defender Josh Morrissey made contact with McDavid, appearing to clip him with his stick in the mid-section.
McDavid seemed to be in immediate discomfort. He sat on the bench for the short remainder of the second but did not come out for the final frame and was quickly ruled out.
Draisaitl was listed as doubtful and eventually determined he could not play after suffering an undisclosed injury on Tuesday against Utah.
The loss of McDavid for any extended period of time would be a massive blow to the Oilers, who sit second in the Pacific Division with 84 points but are aiming to catch the Vegas Golden Knights (86 points) for first place.
McDavid, even in a relative down year, has posted otherworldly numbers with 89 points (26 goals, 63 assists) in 62 games. He scored the overtime winner for Canada to beat the U.S. in the 4 Nations Face-Off final.
Edmonton’s next game is Saturday at home against the Seattle Kraken, followed by three days off.
