Cheryl Reeve FIRED From Team USA After Caitlin Clark Olympics SNUB – Sue Bird TAKES OVER!
Team USA Basketball has announced a complete overhaul of its selection process following the Caitlin Clark Olympic snub and people are getting fired. Sue Bird is now in charge, no more Cheryl Reeve, and suddenly the path to Los Angeles 2028 looks very different for the Indiana Fever star.
USA Basketball Makes Decision on Coach Cheryl Reeve After Polarizing Caitlin Clark Comments
Indiana Fever rookie and 2024 WNBA draft No. 1 pick Caitlin Clark was not included on the 12-player Team USA roster revealed over the weekend.
The decision by USA Basketball has certainly generated plenty of debate in the hoops world in recent days. To make matters worse for Team USA, its coach — Cheryl Reeve — has come under heavy criticism for past posts on X about Clark that many fans felt were inappropriate.
Near the start of the 2024 WNBA season, Reeve shared multiple social media posts that some interpreted as subtle shots at the Indiana Fever rookie.
Given Reeve’s status as coach of Team USA, many fans have questioned the appropriateness of her comments – specifically those that referenced Clark.
It doesn’t appear USA Basketball will address the polarizing social media posts ahead of the Paris Olympics. USA Today Sports reported Thursday that neither USA Basketball nor Reeve would comment on the situation.
“Cheryl told me that she would not be commenting,” USA Basketball spokesperson Michael Terry recently told USA Today.
