The Story of Kitty Cole and the “Fake” Versace

This is a story about a friendship that started in a fancy ski resort but ended in a messy argument in front of a judge. It involves a person named Kitty Cole (a drag performer and fundraiser) and a woman named Shari.

They met in Aspen, Colorado. Shari was recently divorced and lonely, so she invited Kitty and a friend to stay at her house in Arizona. At first, it seemed like a fun trip. Shari provided a luxury hotel suite, limousines, and even paid for expensive spa treatments—including mud baths and massages.

The Argument

However, after the trip, both sides were angry and claimed the other owed them money:

Kitty’s Side: Kitty sued Shari for $350 for a rental car and the cost of a custom dress. Kitty claimed Shari promised tickets to a charity event and told Kitty to buy a new outfit for it. Kitty also wanted back a pair of “expensive” Versace sunglasses left at Shari’s house.

Shari’s Side: Shari said she shouldn’t pay for the car because she already provided a limo. She also claimed she “lent” Kitty some gemstones (sapphires) that Kitty never returned.

The Truth Comes Out

When they got to court, Judge Judy looked at the evidence and realized things weren’t as “rich” as they seemed:

The Sunglasses: Kitty claimed they were designer Versace. Judge Judy looked at them and found a “Made in China” sticker. They were actually cheap, $5 glasses.

The Gemstones: Kitty denied stealing them, saying, “I don’t use colored rocks, I only wear diamonds.” Kitty claimed the stones were left in a drawer at Shari’s house.

The Lifestyle: Shari was angry because she spent thousands of dollars on hotels and spa treatments for Kitty, only to be sued later.

The Judge’s Decision

Judge Judy was not impressed with either of them. She told Shari she was “crazy” for inviting strangers into her home and giving them jewelry. She told Kitty that since they stayed in a luxury house for free and got free spa treatments, they didn’t deserve money for a rental car.

The Result: The Judge dismissed the whole case. No one got any money. Her final advice was simple: Choose your friends more carefully.
