Caitlin Clark Suffered a Black Eye in Her First WNBA Playoff Game vs. Sun

Caitlin Clark made her WNBA playoff debut on Sunday afternoon against the Connecticut Sun. It was a very welcoming crowd considering it was on the road, but Clark struggled from the field early and the Sun jumped out to a lead in the second quarter and never looked back.

In addition to struggling with her shot, Clark took a poke in the eye early in the game from DiJonai Carrington. Clark was passing the ball when Carrington got her in the face. No foul was called and by the end of the game a black eye had developed.

You may recall that Clark and Carrington had a run-in earlier this season when the Sun player mocked Clark for flopping.

It should serve as a reminder of the result as the Fever prepare for Game 2 where they will try and extend their season.

Wilson Makes Caitlin Clark Announcement After Fever’s Game 1 Loss to Sun

Caitlin Clark did not do too well in her first-ever playoff game on Sunday. While she did put up some decent numbers (11 points, four rebounds, eight assists, three steals and a block), the newly-crowned AP Rookie of the Year went 4-of-17 from the field and 2-of-13 from distance in what was a forgettable postseason debut.

More importantly, the Fever suffered a disappointing 93-69 blowout loss against the Connecticut Sun in Game 1, which means that Indiana is now just one loss away from elimination.

Shortly after the game, Wilson Basketball made an announcement about their sponsorship deal with Clark. According to their Instagram post, Wilson will be restocking their Caitlin Clark Limitless Series basketballs on Tuesday.

The last time Wilson sold these balls on their website, the fans wasted no time purchasing all the available stocks until they were sold out. In fact, it took no more than 40 minutes before the balls were completely sold out from the site.

At this point, it will not be surprising if the balls sell out again fast. It goes without saying that Clark has a huge following and her supporters are more than happy to purchase anything Caitlin-related.

As for Wilson, now is probably the safest time for them to restock these items. Clark could very well be playing in her final game of the season if the Fever end up losing on Wednesday against Connecticut.

You can be sure, however, that Clark and Co. will do everything in their power to make sure that they force a do-or-die Game 3 at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday.
