Often sports a single long legging matching her team’s uniform.
Angel Reese has become well-known not only for her impressive skills on the court but also for a unique fashion statement that has captivated fans. The standout forward often sports a single long legging on her left leg, matching her team’s uniform.
She has now shared that this distinctive choice serves two purposes: to conceal a scar and to pay homage to her basketball idols.
During her freshman year, Reese sustained a Jones fracture in her left leg, which necessitated the insertion of a rod and left her with a visible scar.
Additionally, Reese is inspired by two basketball players she looks up to, who are also known for wearing a single legging.
“I had surgery two years ago on my shin,” Reese said.
“I have a rod in my leg. Many people don’t know that.
“I cover the scar for one, then my two players that I really admire, Te’a Cooper and A’ja Wilson, they also wear it, too. So it’s swag. But I’ve used it to cover my scar.”
Changed her number
Meanwhile, Kamilla Cardoso will continue to wear her Number 10 jersey with the Chicago Sky, while Reese is making a significant change by switching to No. 5, embracing it as a symbol of “new beginnings.”
Both Cardoso and Reese were known for sporting No. 10 during their impressive college basketball careers-Cardoso at South Carolina and Reese at LSU.
Reese’s decision to switch to No. 5 holds personal significance, as she previously wore that number during her time at the University of Maryland and Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore, before adopting No. 10 at LSU.
On the other hand, Cardoso has had a history of wearing various jersey numbers since her high school days, but she has now solidified her identity with the No. 10 jersey in her professional career.
