Angel Reese Breaks Silence After Her Actions During ‘Black National Anthem’ Gained Everyone’s Attention
Angel Reese has lashed out at her critics following widespread condemnation of her actions while the Black National Anthem was sung during a recent game.
Reese is in her first season with the Atlanta Dream and her third in the WNBA. She was part of an offseason trade that saw her close her Chicago account after two seasons.
The former LSU star faced off against rival Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on Thursday night, the eve of Juneteenth. She was seen mocking Clark after a flop, drawing plenty of reactions.

Cameras also showed her singing loudly during a rendition of “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” doing exactly what the anthem suggested.
It earned her plenty of boos and criticism. However, she would have been pleased with the result as her team got the W.
Angel Reese Grateful For The Privilege
Reese addressed that when she spoke to reporters on Saturday.
“It was just one in the moment of where I was, and how it felt, and how it hit, and the things that I’ve had to experience the last couple years, and they haven’t always been great,” she explained, per FOX News.
She added:
“It’s not supposed to be easy, but I am very, very grateful for this opportunity to be a Black woman, it’s a privilege… being where I was, hearing the loud boos when I was in the arena, and then when I heard ‘Lift Every Voice,’ it just made me feel like, this is for the ones that walked for me.
“Those young girls, those young boys out there, when they see a Black girl being able to run up and down the court and just have this life and have this experience, I think it’s really important. Representation is important, for me to use my voice, for me to use my platform, I’ll never stay silent for things I believe in.”
Meanwhile, Reese has fared much better on her new team following a turbulent two years with the Sky.
The Dream beat the Fever again on Saturday, improving their record to 11-4. Consequently, they sit atop the Eastern Conference (third overall).
ATL Barbie is averaging a double-double this season, scoring 15.3 points a night while hauling 11.9 rebounds.
