Earlier this year WNBA superstar Angel Reese made headlines when she landed the cover of Vogue magazine. During her interview with the outlet, Reese couldn’t contain her excitement for the fashion world.
“It’s always been both: basketball and fashion,” Reese told Vogue. “But I was a fashion girlie from young too…I was always in my mom’s closet, putting on her stuff. I liked to carry a purse. Hair done. I wanted to look put together. I still do…I used to watch America’s Next Top Model with Tyra and practice my walk in the living room.”
Fast forward a month and the Chicago Sky forward has a new job in the fashion industry.
On Tuesday morning Vogue announced the host committee for the Met Gala, which features Reese.
Though much of the guest list will remain under wraps, the Met Gala Host Committee was also announced today. This group, typically composed of personalities across art, film, literature, music, sports, and more includes André 3000, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Grace Wales Bonner, Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens, Jordan Casteel, Dapper Dan, Doechii, Ayo Edebiri, Edward Enninful, Jeremy O. Harris, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, Rashid Johnson, Regina King, Spike Lee and Tonya Lewis Lee, Audra McDonald, Janelle Monáe, Jeremy Pope, Angel Reese, Sha’Carri Richardson, Olivier Rousteing, Tyla, USHER, and Kara Walker. They’ll be among attendees seated for a dinner prepared by Chef Kwame Onwuachi, amid decor by Cy Gavin, Derek McLane and Raúl Àvila.
The Sky star took to social media to react to the news, “2025 Met Gala Host Committee” she said plainly.
Reese is no stranger to attending fashion events, attending a number of events after the 2024 season came to a close including the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
