Boston Celtics assistant Sam Cassell has accused Angel Reese of being ‘so lazy’ during her high school basketball career.
Reese has grown to become one of the biggest stars in women’s sports, enjoying a rivalry with Caitlin Clark that has catapulted the WNBA to new heights.
The former LSU forward has turned heads since her days at St Frances Academy, where it was obvious that she was in a league of her own.
But Cassell, a Maryland native who went on to enjoy a fine career in the NBA, has revealed how Reese would not make the most of her talent.
‘I thought she was so lazy in high school because she thought she was so much better than anyone,’ Cassell told the ‘Come And Talk 2 Me’ podcast.

‘Sometimes she’d miss a layup, get a rebound, (and) miss another layup. The other team got the ball and she wouldn’t run back down court.’
Reese was selected seventh overall by the Chicago Sky and she enjoyed a fine rookie year before suffering a season-ending wrist injury.
Over recent years, Cassell has enjoyed seeing Reese develop – on both sides of the ball.
‘Watching her grow up through the ranks in Baltimore High School and seeing her now play the game of basketball,’ he added.
Reese now hosts her own podcast – Unapologetically Angel – and the WNBA star fired back at Taylor Swift fans amid the backlash over her interview with Travis Kelce‘s ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole.
Nicole, who dated Kelce on and off for five years before his romance with Swift, discussed her former relationship with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end this week.
Reese told Nicole at one stage that she ‘loved’ her and Kelce together. Both have been targeted by Swift’s fans in the wake of the interview, with Reese slammed for bringing up the topic to gain views.
The basketball star responded to the criticism on social media: ‘Hating pays too,’ she wrote, along with a nail-painting emoji.
