Canadian hockey fans received some pretty negative feedback over the weekend after a contingent of those fans could be heard booing and jeering during the performing of the American national anthem, first during a game between the Minnesota Wild and Ottawa Senators and then again during a game between the Detroit Red Wings and Calgary Flames.
The negative response those clips received does not appear to have deterred angry Canadian fans from expressing that anger in the slightest however.
On Sunday night, the boos and jeers were once again out in Canada when it came time to perform the American national anthem and this time they were out in full force. The anthem was being performed in the City of Vancouver prior to a game between the hometown Vancouver Canucks and the Detroit Red Wings, but you wouldn’t have known it with the boos being so loud that they practically drowned out the anthem altogether.
Here is a look at a clip of the incident in question:
While the previous incidents could have largely been attributed to isolated pockets of fans, the sheer volume and number of boos that you can hear in this clip make it seem like a significant portion of the crowd was engaged in disrespecting the American national anthem.
It is important to note that not all fans were engaging in the behavior with some fans cheering loudly at the end of the anthem in an attempt to drown out the boos.
Do youagree with this recent form of protest from Canadian hockey fans? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
