Black Boy Helps Brad Marchand with Flat Tire, The Next Day, a Black SUV Showed Up at His House

Black Boy Helps Brad Marchand with Flat Tire, The Next Day, a Black SUV Showed Up at His House.

On a quiet road outside Boston, NHL star Brad Marchand found himself in an unexpected predicament—a flat tire. Stranded with no immediate help in sight, he stood by his car, weighing his options. Just as frustration began to set in, a young boy on a bicycle appeared, carrying a small toolkit.

The boy, 13-year-old Jamal Hayes, stopped and asked, “Need some help, sir?” Marchand nodded, impressed by the boy’s confidence. Jamal quickly got to work, efficiently changing the tire as Marchand watched in awe. Despite being offered money for his trouble, Jamal shook his head, smiling. “You don’t owe me anything. Just glad I could help.”

Grateful for the boy’s kindness, Marchand asked where he lived, but Jamal simply waved and pedaled off.

The next day, a sleek black SUV pulled up in front of Jamal’s modest home. Out stepped Marchand, holding a basketball, a hockey stick, and a signed Bruins jersey. Jamal’s family looked on in astonishment as Marchand approached their door with a grin.

“Jamal,” Marchand said, “you went out of your way to help me, so I wanted to say thank you properly.”

Marchand spent the afternoon with Jamal and his family, talking about sports, sharing advice, and even shooting hoops with Jamal in the driveway. Before leaving, he handed the boy a gift—a brand-new bike, complete with tools and a signed note: “Kindness goes a long way, and so will you.”

The story quickly went viral, with fans praising both Jamal’s selflessness and Marchand’s generosity. Jamal, however, remained humble. “I just did what felt right,” he said.

For Marchand, it was a reminder of the importance of paying it forward. For Jamal, it was a day he would never forget—proof that small acts of kindness can lead to extraordinary moments.

Brad Marchand Benched In Key Moment of Bruins Shootout Loss

Brad Marchand is one of, if not the most clutch players in Boston Bruins history, as the franchise’s all-time leader in overtime goals.

The Bruins certainly could’ve used one on Saturday against the Ottawa Senators.

However, Marchand did not touch the ice in overtime or appear in the shootout after he was benched due to a coach’s decision as Boston lost 6-5 in a skills competition at Canadian Tire Centre.

Marchand skated his final shift of the game with 1:45 left in the third period while the Bruins were protecting a one-goal lead and was on the ice when Josh Norris tied the score for Ottawa with 12 seconds left to play in regulation.

“We just have to be better at defending that lead when it’s six-on-five,” Bruins interim coach Joe Sacco told reporters in Ottawa. “We can’t give up slot chances like that. I give them credit. They were hungry, but we have to do a better job. We have guys out there that have to make sure that we get the puck out of our zone.”

Marchand finished the night without a point and was a minus-one with one shot on net in 19:20 of ice time.

Boston was outshot 3-1 in overtime and did not score on any of its attempts in the shootout.

After losing to the Senators, the Bruins fell out of playoff position in the Eastern Conference and trail Ottawa by one point in the standings.

Brad Marchand Makes Bruins History After Hitting Impressive Milestone

Brad Marchand has been a fantastic player for the Boston Bruins, and now, he joins elite company in Bruins after accomplishing an impressive feat in year 16 for the current Bruins captain.

Brad Marchand is a great leader for the Boston Bruins, with the 36-year old well into his 16th season with the team after being drafted way back in the third-round of the 2006 NHL Draft.

The future of the current Bruins captain is up in the air beyond 2024/25, but for now, he’s living in the moment, putting up an impressive two points and a +4 differential as the team picked up a much needed 6-3 win over the San Jose Sharks.

With that assist, Marchand joined some elite company in Bruins history, as he joined the likes of Ray Borque, Patrice Bergeron and Johnny Bucyk with 10-straight 20 assist seasons for the Bruins.

Brad Marchand became the eighth player in #NHLBruins history to record 10 straight 20-assist seasons. The others: Ray Bourque (21), Johnny Bucyk (20), Patrice Bergeron (15), David Krejci (14), Wayne Cashman (14), Rick Middleton (11), and Terry O’Reilly (10).

While there’s been some criticism of Marchand’s play this season, he’s got a solid 17 goals and 37 points in 48 games played, as he’s now fast approaching 1,000 career points after posting 966 in 1,077 games.

At 36-years of age, there’s questions about his future in Boston however, as he will hit free agency for the first time in eight years, and with the Bruins future up in the air given the lack of elite level prospects coming through the organization, it’s safe to say that whatever decision they do make on No. 63 could majorly define the future of this Original Six franchise.
