According to a source familiar with the situation, the apparent blood trail was visible near the entrance of the home, located near East Skyline Drive and North Campbell Avenue in the Catalina Foothills area north of Tucson. Also found at the scene were the remnants of what appeared to be a Ring doorbell camera, which had been removed from the front door area.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Office has not responded to multiple requests from PEOPLE for comment regarding the apparent blood evidence, and investigators have not confirmed whose blood was found at the residence. Authorities have likewise declined to say whether the removed security camera may have captured footage related to Nancy’s disappearance before it was taken down.

Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today co-host Savannah Guthrie, was last seen at her home around 9:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, Jan. 31. Her family reported her missing around noon the following day, when they were unable to reach her and became concerned about her whereabouts.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Feb. 3, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said authorities believe Nancy was taken against her will. “We know she didn’t just walk out of there,” Nanos told reporters, adding that the circumstances found inside and outside the home were “very concerning.”
