BREAKING REPORT: White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed today that the administration is actively drafting an executive order that would require mandatory blood testing for all WNBA players and female collegiate athletes to verify their biological sex.
This announcement comes after the Russian government reportedly shared intelligence with U.S. officials alleging that Brittney Griner, while imprisoned in Russia in 2022, tested biologically male during routine medical procedures. Sources claim that this was the reason she was housed in a male prison facility, a detail never disclosed to the public at the time.
Leavitt stated during a press briefing:
“If we receive credible information from a foreign government indicating that a high-profile athlete may not meet the biological criteria for women’s competition, the American people deserve transparency. We are taking steps to protect the integrity of women’s sports.”
The executive order, currently being drafted, would mandate biological verification through blood testing for all athletes competing in major women’s leagues and college programs receiving federal funding.
The announcement has already sparked national debate, with critics calling it an invasion of privacy and a political stunt, while supporters argue it’s a necessary move to protect women’s sports.
Injured Brittney Griner Makes Request to Fans
Brittney Griner may be dealing with an injury, but based on her latest post, she’s in good spirits and enjoying her life outside of the basketball court.
On Saturday, amid troubling reports about her injury, the Atlanta Dream star shared a fun post and even made a request to WNBA fans.
Griner Wants Fans to Check Out ‘Pride Is Love’
On her Instagram Stories, Griner shared a post promoting the return of the WNBA’s original series titled “Pride Is Love,” which features her and her wife, Cherelle Griner, and their son, Bash Griner.
Along with a poster for the show, the Dream center wrote, “Fun time filming this! Check it out on the @wnba channel.”
In previous posts, the WNBA said that the episode featuring the Griners is about “love, strength and family,” adding that the “couple dives into their relationship in the most authentic way.”
Griner’s Injury Status With Dream
As mentioned, Griner’s message and the release of the episode came at a time when the Atlanta center is dealing with an injury.
Griner missed the Dream’s previous game against her former team, the Phoenix Mercury, due to a neck injury, and the same issue continues to hound her. In fact, she has already been ruled out for the team’s Sunday game against the Washington Mystics due to the health setback.
While the Dream beat the Mercury even without Griner, her absence certainly leaves a big hole to fill. Here are Griner’s averages this 2025 season and where she ranks on the team:
First in field goal shooting at 51.4%
First in blocks with 1.1
Second in rebounds with 5.6
Fifth in points per game with 10.6
It remains to be seen when Griner will be able to return, but hopes are high that she won’t be sidelined for a long time.

The Dream may be third in the WNBA standings with a 17-11 record, but they are only half a game ahead of the No. 4 Mercury and just one full game ahead of the No. 5 Indiana Fever and No. 6 Seattle Storm.
