Brittney Griner delivers blunt response to Caitlin Clark fan who mocked the US women’s basketball team in Paris.

A hilarious troll job by a Japan fan seemed to catch the attention of a few Team USA women’s basketball stars before they opened their Olympic games in Paris.

The fan, wearing a half-and-half Brooklyn Nets/Los Angeles Lakers jersey held up a sign saying ‘You need Caitlin Clark to beat us’.

That sign garnered attention from a number of players on the court, including A’ja Wilson.

Wilson got the attention of her teammate Brittany Griner, who saw the sign and gave a simple ‘Oh wow’ in response.

Clark’s omission from the Olympic team still generates controversy to this day, despite Team USA not exactly needing her.

Team USA cruised to a dominant victory over Japan in their opener of the group stage in Paris

That was proven on Monday, when the women’s team dominated Japan in a 102-76 win in their opening game of group stage play.

Wilson led all scorers with 24 points, 13 rebounds, and four assists while Breanna Stewart chipped in with 22 points of her own plus eight rebounds and three assists.

Griner was one of three bench contributors with eleven points – racking up nine rebounds as well.

Sabrina Ionescu and Kelsey Plum also got eleven points, doing so in 20 and 14 minutes of game time respectively.

Japan was led by the bench performance of Maki Takada – who dropped 24 points – but her team shot an abysmal 38 percent from the field.

Team USA next plays on Thursday when they take on Belgium – who lost 83-69 to Germany.
