During the Boston Bruins’ March 1 contest against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Brad Marchand exited the game with an upper-body injury. This was after he received an ugly hit from Penguins defenseman Pierre-Olivier Joseph.
Marchand did not play in the Bruins’ March 2 matchup against the Minnesota Wild after this, with head coach Joe Sacco sharing that he would have more information following the trip.
Now, Sacco has provided an update on Marchand ahead of the Bruins’ matchup against the Nashville Predators, and it is simply brutal. According to Sacco, Marchand will be out week-to-week.

With the Bruins desperately trying to get back into the playoff race, it is awful news that Marchand is going to miss a good amount of time. The 36-year-old forward is still one of the club’s most important offensive contributors, posting 21 goals and 47 points in 61 games this season. It will be incredibly difficult for them to replace his production while he is out.
This annoucement also comes with the NHL trade deadline being three days away and Marchand still being without a contract extension.
