Caitlin Clark Sends a Cryptic Response on Stephen Curry & Sabrina Ionescu’s 3PT Contest at NBA All-Star Weekend

Logo Threes in college or most three-pointers made by a rookie in a single season, Caitlin Clark has ensured not to let her ‘sharpshooter’ tag fad. After surpassing the likes of Stephen Curry and Diana Taurasi in shooting, it is only natural one speculate we see the Indiana Fever #22 for a reminiscent 3-point contest against the Legends. And seems like Clark herself is no oblivious to that.
On November 22, Clark liked a social media post that read, “Imagine you have Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson on the NBA side, then you get Sabrina Ionescu and Caitlin Clark on the WNBA side.” Now well, the All-Star weekend in February could coincide with the Unrivalled league that kicks off in January 2025. Given there has been no confirmation from the 2024 ROTY about joining the league, we might as well catch a glimpse of her alongside the greats.
Caitlin Clark liked this post. Do Yall think she gonna join Sabrina and Steph at NBA All star? 👀
Clark has grown up watching Stephen Curry play. “Those are the people I always loved watching their game. The way they shoot the ball, I try to mimic that and try to be half as good,” she had said, speaking of Maya Moore and the Golden State legend. She challenged herself, made it fun, and today we are here.
Even her Fever head coach incorporated elements of the Warriors’ playbook to complement her style, highlighting the similarities in their games. If this dream collaboration were to happen, it wouldn’t be the first time the NBA and WNBA joined forces. Sabrina Ionescu and Curry faced off last year. The New York Liberty star would fall just 3 points short of matching the latter’s score.
Now, the buzz around Clark potentially taking part in the event is growing louder. The opportunity could also see Curry reunite with his longtime teammate Klay Thompson. Whether Clark chooses to play during the NBA All-Star weekend or stick to Unrivaled, one thing is certain.
Caitlin Clark’s always in elite company
Indiana Fever #22’s competitive drive dates back to her days with the Iowa Hawkeyes, where she averaged an incredible 31.6 points per game. During Curry’s standout season at Davidson in 2007-08, he set a record with 162 three-pointers. But the 22-year-old Iowa native shattered that record with 164 threes in a single season, solidifying her place among the greats.
Curry himself recognized Clark’s potential early on, praising her in an interview with CBS Mornings: “Her shooting ability is her superpower, but the rest of her game is as polished as that.” When Clark became the No. 1 pick in the WNBA, she continued to prove him right, dazzling with her full-court skills and breaking records along the way. With a total of 122 threes, she not only broke the rookie record previously set at 85, she also surpassed Diana Taurasi for second-most in a single season.
“I love what she’s done for women’s basketball. When she shows up, the seats are filled, and there’s a different energy,” Curry had added, emphasizing her impact on the sport. While Curry-Clark comparisons are flattering, even he believes they can be limiting, stating that he doesn’t want her to be labeled as the “female Curry.”
The big question remains: Will Clark take up the opportunity to participate in the NBA All-Star weekend or pick Unrivaled? Either way, she’s poised to make headlines.
