Caitlin Clark penned a heartfelt message to boyfriend Connor McCaffery while acknowledging a major milestone.
Over the last couple of weeks, Clark has enjoyed quite an eventful offseason after making a guest appearance at the Pacers-Bucks playoff game and celebrating teammate Lexie Hull’s engagement. Despite the Indiana Fever’s jam-packed schedule, Flavor Flav expressed hope that he’d someday get to meet her.
On Thursday, Clark took to social media to commemorate her two-year anniversary with McCaffery. The pair of star athletes began dating in April of 2023 while both were playing basketball at the University of Iowa.
“Another year with my favorite person 🙂 I’m so thankful for you,” Clark captioned a series of black-and-white photos in which she and McCaffery can be seen sharing a loving embrace. Several of her teammates – both past and present – swiftly congratulated the couple in the comment section.
“Favs,” Hull wrote alongside two heart emojis, while former Hawkeye Gabbie Marshall added: “CUTEST EVER!!!!”
Iowa junior Taylor McCabe chimed in “mom and dad omg,” with former player Jada Gyamfi stating: “Happy birthday to my favorite parents i love you guys.”
McCaffery additionally celebrated the anniversary on his own Instagram page, posting another black-and-white picture of the pair holding hands with the message: “2 years keep being u.”
After graduating from Iowa back in 2023, McCaffery – whose father, Fran McCaffery, was relieved of his duties as Iowa men’s basketball head coach last month – joined the Indiana Pacers as a member of their staff. But the 26-year-old departed in September of 2024 to take on an assistant coaching role with the Butler University men’s basketball team.
Speaking to reporters following a Fever practice, Clark expressed excitement about McCaffery’s new job opportunity. “I’m super excited for him, obviously his basketball knowledge is pretty good,” she said. “It makes it fun when you can bounce ideas off each other.
“He worked super hard for that. It’ll be fun to go to those games. I love college basketball, obviously he’s been around it his whole life and really invested a lot into it. I think it’ll be fun, give me something to do all throughout the offseason.”
Though McCaffery has taken a different path in his basketball career, Clark asserted that he is still extremely supportive in her WNBA endeavors – adding that the duo still find time to play together. “That’s definitely something we love, coming in here, shooting late at night or having some shooting competitions,” she added.
“It gets a little heated – I definitely outshoot him way more than he outshoots me – but he tries to think otherwise.
“I think more than anything, he’s just supportive and lets me do my thing. That’s something I really appreciate about him, is just his support and his passion for basketball.”
