Caitlin Clark’s offseason plans in Iowa City
The 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year recently spoke with her former Iowa teammate Jada Gyamfi on the podcast Fresh Tawk, sharing her excitement about reuniting with old friends back in Iowa.
“It’s been nice to have a little break and was a fun season, but I’ve been crossing off the days to get back to Iowa City,” Clark admitted.
Her words reflect how strong her connection remains to the city where she built her college career and formed close bonds with teammates.
Throughout the season, Clark has been vocal about missing her former Hawkeye teammates, especially her close friends Gabbie Marshall and Kate Martin.
“I’ve literally been counting the days,”Clark shared on the podcast.
“Last Thursday, I was like, okay, one more week, and then next Thursday, I’m there. Once Monday passed, I was fired up!”
Though Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, has recently started his own coaching career with Butler University in Indianapolis, she seems unbothered by the geographic separation.
Despite the distance and the fact that Butler could potentially face Iowa in future tournaments, Clark’s loyalty to both programs remains unwavering.
Caitlin Clark reconnecting with her roots
For now, Clark’s offseason plans are all about quality time with her former teammates and friends in Iowa City, where she’s been enjoying activities like making TikTok videos and reminiscing about their college days.
Each of them has taken different paths since leaving college-Clark to the WNBA, Marshall to pursue her education, and Martin to the Las Vegas Aces.
However, Clark’s return to Iowa City is a reminder of the strong ties they all still share.
This sentiment of camaraderie runs deep, as evidenced by the friends frequently showcasing their support for each other on social media.
And for Clark, this offseason visit isn’t just a trip home but a chance to reconnect with those who have supported her journey.
