Cameras Catch Angel Reese’s Embarrassing Postgame Exchange With Mercury Players After Chicago Sky’s Eighth Straight Loss, She is Happy While Team Suffered Another Loss

Things got from bad to worse for the Angel Reese-less Chicago Sky on Sunday as they suffered another blowout loss in what has quickly become another wasted season for them. This came in the form of an 83-67 home loss to the Phoenix Mercury at Wintrust Arena, which marked Chicago’s eighth consecutive defeat.

Chicago Sky Fall to 7-21 on Sunday

Kamilla Cardoso kept her double-double streak going with her sixth consecutive one after registering 12 points and 10 rebounds. Elizabeth Williams came off the bench for 15 points and 15 rebounds in just 21 minutes of action.

Apart from that, there wasn’t really much else to take away from the Sky’s loss to the Mercury on Sunday. Chicago simply had no answer for Kahleah Copper as the four-time All-Star dropped 25 points in the win. MVP contended Alyssa Thomas, on the other hand, secured a 10-point, 10-rebound and 10-assist triple-double in the easy win.

Angel Reese Exchanges Pleasantries With Mercury Players

Reese was seen sharing a moment with a couple of the Sky’s opponents after the loss. The 23-year-old sat out for a second straight game on Sunday and for a fourth time in the last five contests due a lingering back injury.

Reese, however, took center court after the defeat to exchange pleasantries with Copper and Thomas.

In the video above, Reese can be seen having a lengthy conversation with Copper after sharing a warm hug. These two got the chance to team up in the offseason for the Unrivaled League.

Reese then spent a moment with Phoenix center Kalani Brown before turning her attention to Thomas, who was her teammate in the WNBA All-Star Game on Team Collier. Reese and Thomas also shared a hug before exchanging words.

The mics did not catch the nature of the conversations, but it is clear that it was a friendly catch-up among peers.

When Will Angel Reese Return?

The Sky have not revealed a timetable for Reese’s return to action. They clearly are in no rush to bring their star forward back, especially considering how Chicago appears to have given up the chase for a playoff spot this season.

Right now, it would not be a complete shock if the Sky end up shutting Reese down for the remainder of the campaign at some point — similar to what they did last year.

The Sky have 16 games remaining, with the Washington Mystics up next for them on Tuesday.
