Marchand, a renowned forward for the Boston Bruins, finalized the purchase of a local car dealership. Excited to check out his new investment, Marchand decided to visit the dealership on a regular weekday, dressed casually and without any fanfare.
Upon entering the showroom, Marchand encountered the dealership manager, who, unaware of the recent change in ownership, mistook him for a regular customer. In a scene that could have come straight out of a comedy sketch, the manager, perhaps caught up in the day-to-day operations, politely asked Marchand to leave, thinking he was a curious passerby.
Marchand, known for his sense of humor and quick wit both on and off the ice, took the misunderstanding in stride. Instead of revealing his identity immediately, he calmly complied with the manager’s request and left the dealership without causing a scene.
Later that day, the dealership staff received a surprising update: Brad Marchand was not just any customer but the new owner of their establishment. The realization sparked laughter and good-natured amusement among the staff, who quickly shared the anecdote with friends and on social media.
The incident quickly gained attention beyond the dealership, becoming a viral sensation as fans and followers of Marchand and hockey enthusiasts alike shared in the amusing mix-up. Many applauded Marchand for his humility and grace in handling the situation, turning what could have been an awkward encounter into a memorable and endearing story.
For Marchand, the experience highlighted the blend of ordinary and extraordinary that often defines the lives of public figures. His ability to laugh off the misunderstanding and embrace the role of a new business owner endeared him further to fans and showcased his down-to-earth approach despite his celebrity status.
In the end, what began as a case of mistaken identity at a car dealership became a charming reminder of the unexpected moments that can arise in everyday life, especially in the world of sports and celebrity. Marchand’s good-humored response served as a testament to his personality and added another chapter to his story both on and off the ice.
Would The Bruins Consider Trading Brad Marchand?
Will the Bruins consider trading Brad Marchand?
BOSTON – The Colorado Avalanche pulled of a gutsy transaction Friday night, trading franchise player Mikko Rantanen to the Carolina Hurricanes as part of a three-team deal. It’s that type of blockbuster trade that could force other teams to start making moves before the upcoming break for 4 Nations Face-Off (Feb. 10-21) and the March 7 trade deadline.
So, would the Boston Bruins consider trading Brad Marchand? More importantly, would he consider it?
The Bruins are in the midst of a crazy streak, posting a 5-1-1 record in their last seven games, including a 3-1 win against the Colorado Avalanche Saturday at TD Garden. With the win, the Bruins leapfrogged the Tampa Bay Lightning for third place in the Atlantic Division.

David Pastrnak is producing at an incredible pace, recording 11 goals and 10 assists for 21 points in his past 12 games. Linemate Morgan Geekie has six goals in the past seven games. Goaltender Jeremy Swayman is sharp, and soon top defensemen Hampus Lindholm and Charlie McAvoy will return to the lineup.
If the Bruins continue to win, it could make Don Sweeney’s decision-making process a little more challenging whether to sell or buy. Team president Cam Neely recently said the organization is considering two paths. This current winning streak doesn’t make it any easier to figure out a future path.
Marchand is in the final year of his eight-year, $49 million contract he signed with Boston on Sept. 26, 2016. At the time, he said it would be an honor to play his entire career for the Bruins. He will be 37 when his current deal expires at the end of this season, and maybe he would consider playing for another organization for a legitimate chance at winning another Stanley Cup.
A team like the Vegas Golden Knights could be an interesting landing spot for Marchand. Vegas is in first in the Pacific Division and has a strong chance of building another deep run in the playoffs. A player with Marchand’s experience would only help. Plus, he already has a strong relationship with Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy.

It could also be a possibility of a true rental. Marchand plays for another organization for the next three months then returns to sign maybe a one-year deal with the Bruins and then decide his future from that point.
Marchand’s legacy is already cemented into the organization’s 101-year history. He’s among the leaders in nearly every category and has his name etched into the Stanley Cup. He will forever be mentioned in the same breath as Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci and Pastrnak. Still, the possibility of having one more Cup title than Bergeron and Krejci could entice Marchand to consider a brief sweater change.
The yield for Marchand would need to be soaked in draft picks and young talent in return for his services. Maybe other GMs will watch how he plays for Team Canada at 4 Nations Face-Off. He thrives on the international stage and was Team Canada’s best player during the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
As far-fetched as it may seem at this point for the Bruins to trade Marchand, it’s not totally out of the realm of possibility. Bruins fans would no doubt hate it, but it could help the future of the organization, and also allow Marchand a chance at another Cup.
