WNBA player Chennedy Carter has started her offseason with a significant decision following the conclusion of the Chicago Sky’s season. The Sky failed to qualify for the postseason, which is why players started to look for other means to earn money by playing basketball.
Carter has turned to her fans for help with a decision in the next step of her basketball career. She went to her Instagram stories to ask her followers what jersey number she should wear as she transitions to a league overseas.

Carter’s stint overseas will be temporary as she waits for next season in the WNBA. The 2024 season was also the final year of her deal, and she will enter the offseason as a restricted free agent. The Sky guard is looking to sign a decent deal following her performance last season.

She played 33 games, averaging 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists. So far in her career, the 2024 campaign was her best, as she was also considered for the Most Improved Player award.
This season, she scored at least 30 points twice. Her 34-point outing against the Las Vegas Aces which resulted in a win was her best scoring performance. She also reached the 20-point mark nine times.
Free agent Chennedy Carter updates fans with major career move
Chennedy Carter confirmed with fans that she will play for the Wuhan Shengfan, a team with the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association. The team reportedly signed her in September as she awaits the new season of the WNBA. In 2023, she also played in the WCBA as a member of the Heilongjiang Dragons.
However, her departure from the US was moved. Carter shared on X (formerly Twitter) that she moved it back but gave no reason for it.
“Chennfolks & chenndolls 🩵!! i have moved my departure date back. i will update you guys here and threads as soon as i leave. excited to share the process with you guys this year,” Carter posted on X.
Carter isn’t new to playing overseas. In 2020, she played for the Turkish league Elazığ İl Özel İdarespor. However, she didn’t stay long and left the team because she reportedly felt homesick. She returned to Turkey last year and played for the city of Bursa
