South Carolina Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley is sticking to her guns when it comes to the Super Bowl on Sunday and she is not letting any of her players or ex-players praise the wrong team.
Staley is known to be a very proud Philadelphia Eagles fan and she will be cheering them on when they take to the field at Caesars Superdome on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Her support for the Eagles has clearly trickled down into her Gamecocks playing squad and beyond to those who used to play for her, but A’ja Wilson did not go far enough in her support for the Eagles when she was asked about the upcoming Super Bowl.
Wilson praises Mahomes
Wilson was asked about her Super Bowl pick. While the Las Vegas Aces star showed some hesitation, she ultimately closed her answer with the Eagles. “I mean, Jalen Hurts. He’s a clutch kid. He’s a clutch client. So I gotta go with the Eagles only because I feel like that’s just the type of bond that we have, but to see, you know, Patrick Mahomes make history obviously would be great as well.”
Acknowledging Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs was a step too far in Staley’s eyes, as she then took to social media to admonish her former player.
“There was a wrong answer @_ajawilson22 …..@Eagles @JalenHurts nothing left to be said! Let’s goooo fellas!” she wrote on X.
Staley had every intention of going to the Super Bowl to see the Chiefs, but President Donald Trump has gotten in her way.
“And I’m not going to the Super Bowl; Trump is going to be at the Super Bowl, so they closed the airspace,” she told reporters.
