Dawn Staley Makes Support Clear as Ex-Gamecock Makes Debut in Pro Basketball League
South Carolina Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley is hyping up one of her former players who recently debuted in the pro basketball league. On Wednesday, Feb. 4, former Gamecocks guard Bree Hall made her official debut in the Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball League for coach Edniesha Curry’s Team Rhythm against coach Zak Buncik’s Team Glow.
Staley took to her X/Twitter to show her support for Hall by reposting a report by the professional league’s official account, which showed Hall’s performance during the game. At that point, Hall had already scored 15 points and looked comfortable on the court. Staley celebrated by letting out a four-word hyped-up reaction.
As it stands, Hall is currently in the 2026 offseason from the WNBA, as it is still uncertain whether she will have a franchise to play for come the 2026 campaign. But it seems as though she is going through extensive strides to sign a guaranteed contract with a WNBA team, as she competes in another professional league to hone her skill set and experience.
Hall played all four of her college basketball years with the Gamecocks program under the tutelage of Staley from 2021 to 2025. There, she became a two-time national champion when the South Carolina-based squad won the national title in 2022 and in 2024, as Hall was one of the key rotation pieces in both of those runs. In her final year with the squad, the Gamecocks lost in the 2025 NCAA championship game.
The Dayton, Ohio, native went on to forego her final year of collegiate basketball eligibility in the 2025-26 campaign to declare for the 2025 WNBA Draft and land with a franchise.

Bree Hall Was Selected With The 20th Overall Pick In The Second Round Of The 2025 WNBA Draft
Luckily for Bree Hall, she was selected in the 2025 WNBA Draft by coach Stephanie White’s Indiana Fever with the 20th overall pick in the second round.
Hall, unfortunately, got waived by the team just as their offseason training camp ended, but was picked up by the Golden State Valkyries on a short-term deal. She found her way back into the Fever franchise to close out the year, but now remains uncertain of her WNBA future.
