WNBA Legend Dawn Staley Sent Strong Message To A’ja Wilson.
WNBA icon Dawn Staley made sure to give A’ja Wilson her well-deserved recognition after the Las Vegas Aces star made history against the Indiana Fever on Wednesday night.
Wilson entered the game with 929 points for the season, needing just 11 points to surpass Jewell Loyd’s single-season record of 939 points set in 2023. The Aces center scored her 11th and 12th points of the night with 26 seconds left in the second quarter, doing so via a midrange jumper.

After Wilson secured the incredible feat, Staley took to X (formerly Twitter) to heap praise on her and give the Aces superstar her flowers.
“Giving [A’ja Wilson] her flowers for breaking the single season scoring record for most points in a WNBA season…..” Dawn Staley wrote.
“When the love comes from love and loved ones it’s fulfilling enough!”
USC women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley: ‘Without a doubt’ Angel Reese is WNBA Rookie of the Year over Caitlin Clark
Since being taken No. 1 overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever, it has been presumed Caitlin Clark will be the Rookie of the Year.

Early on, nothing Clark has done in her first season in the league has dispelled the notion that she is deserving. However, when South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley was asked who she believed was the Rookie of the Year to date, she picked another player (and a former rival to boot): Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese.
“They both are having great years – don’t get me wrong,” Staley told TMZ Sports. “If I had to pick a Rookie of the Year at this time … today, it’s Angel. Not a doubt. What she’s been able to do with the double-doubles.”
Of course, Staley has played both Clark and Reese. The Gamecocks defeated Clark and Iowa in the national championship game to complete a perfect season. USC also beat LSU twice last season, including in the SEC Tournament Championship game.
