In late November 2024, a number of X posts claimed tech billionaire Elon Musk reported that “client lists” for both Sean Combs and Jeffrey Epstein would be revealed, thus exposing Hollywood elites’ bad sexual behavior, when U.S. President-elect Donald Trump is inaugurated on Jan. 20, 2025.
Music mogul Combs was arrested in September 2024 in New York City on charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. Epstein, who died in jail awaiting trial in 2019, was a multi-millionaire financier and a previously convicted sex offender. Their real and alleged crimes have fueled whispers — some of which resulted in conspiracy theories — about sex trafficking and pedophile rings in Hollywood and other elite spaces.
One post stated: “BREAKING: Elon Musk Announces Diddy and Epstein Client List Release on January 20. This is going to rock Hollywood.”

One of the earliest examples of the claim emerged from a fake Musk X account labeled @iamnot_elon, that wrote on Nov. 7, 2024: “Do you think Trump and I should release the “EPSTEIN LIST” and the “DIDDY LIST”? A) Yes B) No, too damaging.”
The above claims spread along with the publication of a satirical article on SpaceXMania titled “Elon Musk to Release Full Diddy and Epstein Client List on January 20th: ‘Time to Fully Expose Them.’ The article, which was published on Nov. 18, 2024, stated:
In a dramatic announcement that has sent shockwaves through social media and political circles alike, tech billionaire Elon Musk declared that he will unveil the full client list linked to Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jeffrey Epstein on January 20th, 2025—the very day Donald Trump is set to be sworn in for his second term as President of the United States. Musk, known for his bombastic claims and enigmatic tweets, has framed the move as an effort to “bring transparency and accountability” to the powerful elite.
“This isn’t just about Diddy or Epstein,” Musk wrote in a late-night post on his platform, X. “This is about exposing an entire system of corruption and abuse. On January 20th, the world will finally see the truth. It’s time to fully expose them.”
The timing of Musk’s announcement is anything but random. The day marks Trump’s triumphant return to the White House after a contentious campaign that, much like his first term, was rife with scandals and polarizing rhetoric. By aligning the revelation with Trump’s inauguration, Musk has ensured that his bombshell will dominate headlines on what is already poised to be a historic day.
SpaceXMania describes its output as being humorous or satirical in nature. The article is also listed under the “Satire” category on the website. Their “About Us” page states:
Welcome to our website, owned and operated by Funky Productions LLC. We are a team of writers and editors based in New York, USA. Our mission? To bring you the freshest fake news, some sassy analysis, and a good dose of satire, all rolled into one crazy concoction that orbits around Elon Musk and everything that’s lighting up the viral/trending charts.
In short, we have no evidence that Musk has insider knowledge of such “client lists,” and Musk himself has never published such a post saying he would release Epstein’s or Combs’ client lists. However, Musk has said in interviews that under Trump, Epstein’s client list would be revealed. In another instance, he has said that the U.S. Department of Justice would be responsible for releasing such a list. He has not given further details about when it would be released or how he knows such a thing would happen.
Musk has been increasingly critical of Combs and Epstein and their purported connections to Hollywood’s elite and Democrats. Musk also positioned himself as a prominent Trump ally during the 2024 elections. Trump in turn tapped him for the newly created role of co-leader of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Musk has also called for the release of such lists. In an X post on Nov. 23, 2024, he replied “Yes” in response to a meme that read, “The people want the Diddy & Epstein files.”

More crucially, in an Oct. 7, 2024, interview with Tucker Carlson on X, Musk said: “I think part of why Kamala’s getting so much support is that, if Trump wins, that Epstein client list is gonna become public. And some of the billionaires behind Kamala are terrified of that […].”
In another X post, from 2022, Musk continued to call on the Department of Justice to release an Epstein list, writing: “Only thing more remarkable than DOJ not leaking the list is that no one in the media cares. Doesn’t that seem odd?”

Snopes previously covered the unfounded claim that Musk had video evidence showing Hollywood celebrities’ involvement with Combs.
