Reese faces backlash for silence on Clark incident.

In the realm of sports, public figures often experience the highs of fame alongside its challenges. Caitlin Clark, one of the brightest stars in women’s basketball, is currently enduring a troubling ordeal involving a stalker.

Despite the serious nature of the situation, many have noted a lack of public support from fellow athletes, particularly Angel Reese, which has drawn widespread criticism. Recently, a 55-year-old man from Denton, Texas, was arrested in Indianapolis on charges of stalking Clark.

The man allegedly sent disturbing messages on social media and shared posts claiming he had circled her house. He faces up to six years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted.

Despite the gravity of the situation, commentators like Dan Dakich have publicly questioned why Reese, among others, has remained silent. Speaking on OutKick’s YouTube channel, Dakich criticized the lack of vocal support for Clark.

“Not one of these people, not Jemele Hill, not Angel Reese, not one of these people that so vehemently defended Angel Reese and how she’s victimized, has stepped up to say anything about Caitlin Clark having a very dangerous stalker,” Dakich said.

He went on to say, “I haven’t heard Angel Reese, who b*tches, whines, and moans about every damn thing that somebody says to her… I haven’t heard any of these people say a word in support of Caitlin Clark going through this.”

Reese, a prominent advocate for athletes facing harassment, has previously spoken out about receiving disturbing AI-generated images of herself. She has also criticized aggressive fan behavior, particularly from segments of Clark’s supporters.

However, her absence from the conversation surrounding Clark’s stalker has fueled accusations of inconsistency.

Is Support Always Public?

While some, like Dakich, argue that public statements are essential, others point out that private support might be just as meaningful. WNBA star Satou Sabally has publicly offered her support to Clark, but it’s possible others have reached out privately.

Rachel DeMita has also urged leagues like the WNBA to establish stricter safety measures for players. Reese herself has shared similar experiences in the past.

On her podcast, Unapologetically Angel, she revealed, “When it comes to death threats… people have come down to my address, following me home… It’s really hard that I have to go through that, and now seeing other players even having to go through that.”
