Brady Tkachuk just IGNITED the hockey world with a jaw-dropping bombshell: “The NHL was made for America.”
The Ottawa Senators captain’s unapologetic, flag-planting declaration—claiming the league’s heart and soul belong exclusively to the U.S.—sent shockwaves across borders, riling up fans, igniting fiery debates, and turning the pre-Olympic hype into pure chaos.
But the backlash hit hardest from the north: Connor McDavid, the Edmonton Oilers captain and hockey’s undisputed conscience, fired back with zero hesitation. In a scorching response that’s exploding online, McDavid slammed the comment as reckless, out of line, and a blatant slap in the face to the game’s Canadian birthplace, its global growth, and every international player who’s elevated the NHL to legendary status.
“This isn’t just bold—it’s disrespectful to the roots and the people who built this league,” McDavid reportedly thundered, his words cutting through the noise like a slap shot. The captain’s measured fury has fans divided: patriots cheering the bravado, purists calling it divisive arrogance.
With the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics looming and the Tkachuk brothers fronting a star-studded Team USA charge, this verbal explosion has cranked the USA-Canada rivalry to nuclear levels. Trash talk? Check. National pride on the line? Double check. Viral meltdown? Already happening.
One thing’s crystal clear: Brady just lit the fuse—and McDavid isn’t letting it burn quietly. The ice in Milan is going to feel like a battlefield.

“Well, I think for people that don’t know, it’s a rivalry that’s always been there and at every level.” Talking to The Athletic about the upcoming games against Canada, Tkachuk said. “It could be youth hockey, it can be for NHL players. Canada’s been the top dog for so many years, and now that the U.S. is knocking on the door, we want to take out the top dog in the hockey world.”

Also president Donald Trump calling Canada a 51st state during those matches had added needed fuel for the rivalry.
