Alexis Morris hit out at the 2023 NCAA national champion

Anew controversy has emerged around Angel Reese as her former LSU teammate, Alexis Morris, publicly accused the Chicago Sky forward of blocking her from joining the recently launched 3×3 league, Unrivaled.
The guard also reignited debate over LSU’s 2023 national championship run by insisting she was the true standout, even over Caitlin Clark, as Morris made the allegations during a livestream on Monday.
She alleged that the 23-year-old Reese had “blackballed” her from the competition, and her remarks quickly gained traction after a fan referenced them on X.com, formerly known as Twitter.

The 2023 graduate from LSU went further, contending that she had been overlooked during the Tigers’ title-winning campaign as they beat Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes in the national championship game.
“She never blackballing me,” Morris said. “They robbed me of the Most Outstanding Player cause that sh*t was already written in bold. Y’all damn know I was the most outstanding player in 2023.”
She then invoked the words of Hall of Famer Magic Johnson to strengthen her claim. “Magic Johnson said it, the Most Outstanding Player was neither Angel Reese nor Caitlin Clark, it was Alexis Morris,” she added.
During LSU’s championship run, Morris averaged 15.4 points and 4.1 assists per game, playing a decisive role in the team’s victory over Iowa in the 2023 title matchup.
While Reese drew national headlines for her dominance on the boards and her viral postgame gestures toward Clark, Morris provided stability in the backcourt and scored effectively in high-pressure moments.
However, the guard’s career path diverged sharply after college. Drafted by the Connecticut Sun in 2023, she failed to secure a roster spot in the WNBA and eventually signed with the Harlem Globetrotters in 2024.
Reese, by contrast, has become one of the most recognizable figures in women’s basketball, quickly transitioning into a prominent role in the professional ranks with the Sky.
Angel Reese trade: Could Sky star be sent to Golden State Valkyries?
The 2025 WNBA season has further complicated Reese’s tenure with Chicago.
The Sky finished with a disappointing 10-34 record, and Reese publicly expressed dissatisfaction with the team’s performance. Her remarks, including discussions about potentially leaving the team, created tension among her teammates and fueled speculation about her future.
“For Golden State, the fit would be obvious,” Lee Escobedo of Bleacher Report said. “Expansion teams rarely land stars early.
“But Reese would give the Valkyries not just elite rebounding and physicality inside, which would fit their defensive identity, but also a marketable face in a competitive Bay Area sports market.”

During the 2025 season, Reese played 30 games, averaging 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per contest, while shooting 45.8 percent from the field.
The combination of her on-court production and high-profile presence makes her a valuable trade asset, with multiple teams reportedly interested should Chicago decide to move her.
