Cardoso got picked 3rd overall by the Chicago Sky in the WNBA Draft, then got a message from Brazilian soccer legend Marta.
The WNBA Draft was a life-changing moment for everyone that was involved. For Kamilla Cardoso, it was the culmination of years of hard work and development in order to reach the top her game.
From highly recruited out of high school, to being a freshman starter at Syracuse, to coming off the bench in her first two years at South Carolina, to winning the National Championship and being named Most Outstanding Player, and then finally being drafted third overall by the Chicago Sky.
Marta tells Kamilla Cardoso all of Brazil is proud of her
It’s been a wild, unprecedented ride for the Brazilian. And now she can say another Brazilian female sports legend is proud of her.
Following her being announced as the Sky’s first pick of the draft, Cardoso was shown a video message from Marta, the soccer star who is considered by many to be the best women’s player of all-time.

In the message, Marta says: “We are so proud of you, whole Brazil likes watching you and we can’t wait to see you shine again”.
Cardoso reveals she’s a “huge fan” of Marta while shedding tears of joy. She truly must feel like she’s on top of the world at this very moment.
