Kate Martin’s Insane Block In Aces-Mystics Leaves WNBA Fans In Awe.

Las Vegas Aces rookie Kate Martin was turning heads on social media after securing an insane block against the Washington Mystics.

The rookie made the play on the ball late in the third quarter. Mystics guard Jade Melbourne had an angle to drive to the basket on the right side of the rim, but the six-foot guard Martin quickly recovered, throwing her body to make a clean block.

WNBA fans shared their initial reactions online.

“I love a Kate Martin block!” said one fan.

“Kate Martin block, that’s what I’m talking about!” said another fan who posted in all caps.

Martin has been a solid contributor for the Aces this season, despite seeing her minutes fluctuate. She’s currently averaging 3.6 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in her first 21 games of the 2024 season.

During the team’s recent win over the Mystics, the rookie out of Iowa posted three points, two rebounds, and two assists in nine minutes.

With the 89-77 victory over the Mystics, Martin and the Aces have now won four straight games, improving their record to 16-7 and jumping over the Minnesota Lynx for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference standings. They’ll play their final game before the WNBA All-Star break on July 16 at 10 p.m. ET against the Chicago Sky.
