Angel Reese Makes WNBA History Against Las Vegas Aces
The Chicago Sky picked up arguably their best win of the WNBA season on Tuesday night, defeating the Las Vegas Aces by a final score of 93-85 to enter the All-Star break on a high note. Chicago improved to 10-14 with the win, which has them just a half-game behind the seventh seed Indiana Fever.
The top-eight teams make the WNBA playoffs regardless of conference, so Chicago has themselves in the postseason picture entering the break. This has largely been due to the play of All-Star forward Angel Reese, who made WNBA history on Tuesday night by jumping to second all-time in rookie double-doubles.
Reese had her historic double-double streak snapped in Saturday’s loss to the New York Liberty, but quickly bounced back with another one in this big win over Las Vegas. The Aces owned the best record in the Western Conference at 16-7 entering this game, and now fall a half-game back of the Seattle Storm.
The final line for Reese in the win was 13 points, 10 rebounds, and a historic +26 plus/minus which no rookie in WNBA history has achieved against Las Vegas:
Chicago’s next game will not come until August 15th when they host the Phoenix Mercury, but Reese will be in action on Saturday for the WNBA All-Star game. Performances like this are why Reese will join Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark as the only other rookie on the All-Star team.
For the Sky, they get to enjoy this impressive victory while recharging over the long break in the WNBA schedule.
