Matthew Tkachuk sends a 2-word “THREAT” to William Nylander ahead of the upcoming game after Domi shoved Panthers star Aleksander Barkov into the boards in retaliation, with Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk quickly vowing revenge.
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi was looking to send a message at the end of Game 4 against the Florida Panthers on Sunday night, and it seems that the Panthers already have made up their minds about how they will respond to that message. It didn’t take long after Domi drove Panthers star Aleksander Barkov into the boards for the Panthers to respond with Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk quickly promising revenge, even though he was stuck on the bench when the incident occurred at the end of the game.
Tkachuk could be seen leaning over the Panthers bench and pointing his stick in the direction of the Maple Leafs bench, but his message was being directed at one man in particular.

Although he hadn’t been involved in the incident at the end of the game, Tkachuk made it clear that he was placing a target firmly on the back of Maple Leafs star forward William Nylander. I suspect that Tkachuk felt that Barkov, a player who isn’t usually involved in the rough stuff, being targeted stepped over a line and as a result he has now decided to target a player on the Maple Leafs side of the ice that fits a similar profile.
Although it was difficult to make out exactly what Tkachuk was saying to Nylander over the sound of the crowd, the pointing of his stick at Nylander coupled with two words we could hear clearly left no doubt about the fact that Tkachuk was indeed directing a threat Nylander’s way.
“Next game,” said Tkachuk repeatedly.
Here is a look at the exchange between the two benches from Sunday night:
Who knows what will come of this in Game 5, but it is going to be must-see TV for fans who have been enjoying the Stanley Cup playoffs thus far.
Max Domi Defends His Teammate
In response to the growing tension, Max Domi, the player who initiated the altercation with Barkov, took to the media to defend his actions and further fuel the rivalry. Speaking in an interview, Domi explained that his decision to shove Barkov was an act of protection for his teammate, and he emphasized that he was simply doing what was necessary to stand up for his team.
“Barkov is one of our leaders, and when he’s targeted, I’m going to step in,” Domi said. “I’m not going to let anyone take advantage of our guys. If the Leafs want to retaliate, we’re ready for it.”
Domi’s comments only served to amplify the anticipation surrounding the upcoming game, as both teams prepare for what is expected to be a physical, high-stakes contest. The Leafs’ fans, known for their passion and enthusiasm, are particularly excited about how Nylander will handle the pressure of facing off against Tkachuk and the Panthers’ aggressive style of play.
Leafs Fans Respond with Enthusiasm
The rivalry between the Panthers and the Leafs has brought out an incredible amount of excitement from the fanbases on both sides. Leafs fans are eager to see how their team will respond to the threats made by Tkachuk and Domi. Many are hoping that Nylander, one of the Leafs’ star players, will rise to the occasion and help lead his team to victory.
“This is going to be a crazy game,” said one Leafs fan. “Tkachuk has been running his mouth, and I can’t wait to see how Nylander and the boys shut him down. This is personal now, and I think the Leafs are going to bring the heat.”
