COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) — Dawn Staley is adding “New York Times Best Seller” to her already impressive resume.
While on her book tour for her new book ‘Uncommon Favor’, Staley, of course, made a stop in Columbia, South Carolina, where nearly 1,000 packed into the Richland 2 Conference Center amid torrential downpours to have a meet and greet with her.

The full title of her book ‘Uncommon Favor – Basketball, North Philly, my mother, and the life lessons I learned from all three’ was named a Best Seller just a week after its release.
Fans were eager to get their hands on a copy (signed, at that) to learn more about Coach Staley’s journey to where she is now.
“The fact that she came from such humble beginnings and now to have the stature that she has attained, and to still be as grounded as she is and you know, involved in making the lives of other people better, even though she’s reached a certain status in life herself, she’s still just a common person,” said Hazel Bennett who came out with her sister, saying they knew they had to be there as soon as they heard about the book signing.
Watch to hear more about where Staley says the book’s title came from and why it was the right fit for telling her story.
