With Kansas City locking up the number one seed, the home-field advantage promises a sea of red and gold roaring through Missouri.
It’s going to be like one of those gladiatorial fights that took place in the Colosseum in Rome. Reminds you of the Gladiator movie, right? Anyway, the Texans aren’t coming to play side characters.
And their defense might just be the plot twist no one saw coming. While fans dissect the Xs and O’s, Patrick Mahomes seems calm as ever, even with big moments happening both on and off the field. How calm?
The Chiefs QB talked to The Drive host Carrington Harrison on Tuesday, and the host asked his thoughts about facing the Texans in their divisional game. The stakes are pretty high for this one. “When you watch the film, what stands out? Because they have one of the better pass rushes in the National Football League?”
Acknowledging that Houston’s defensive lineup is indeed strong, Patrick replied, “I think it’s just a great unit, just in general. I mean, everywhere they got playmakers at the D-line, the linebackers, in the secondary. And so it’s a great challenge for us.” Knowing your opponent is the first step towards winning, and seems like Mahomes covered that.

The Houston Texans’ defense has been solid this season, ranking in the top five for total yards allowed per game. (They’re shutting teams down). The team is also holding their own against the run, giving up just 112.3 rushing yards per game (15th in the league). When it comes to the passing game, the Texans have allowed 207.4 passing yards per game (ranked 21st).
Their pass rush has been on point too, with Danielle Hunter leading the charge in sacks. And don’t forget their ability to make big plays. This defense is creating turnovers, ranking second in the league for interceptions. (That’s some serious ball-hawking). So, it’s correct to say that CJ Stroud‘s team’s defense is going to be a real challenge for the Chiefs.
As most of us know, Patrick Mahomes and Brittany welcomed their third baby on January 12. Congratulations to them! The couple first announced they were expecting back in July. And later revealed it would be a girl. Fast forward to this week, and the Mahomes family is celebrating the arrival of their little one.
In a joint post shared by both Brittany and Patrick, they shared the good news with their fans. “• Golden Raye Mahomes• 1/12/25🎀✨,” captioned them.
As Patrick celebrated this personal three-peat, the QB revealed how he killed time in the hospital.
And thanks to Brittany for allowing him to do so. Speaking in a media conference, the Chiefs star shared, “It was cool that football was on TV when I was in the hospital, so I got to watch a little bit. Brittany was kind enough to let us watch football as she was getting ready to give birth to our second daughter.” That’s a dad move right there. Fathers and their obsession with football.
As the couple celebrates this big news, Patrick Mahomes couldn’t help but praise Brittany. “I’m just supporting, you know. Brittany crushed it. It’s been cool to welcome another baby girl into our family and see how my other kids react to her. It’s a special moment that a lot of dads and moms have experienced, and you don’t forget about that stuff.
So I was glad I was able to be there and support in the best way I can,” the QB added. So, little Sterling and Bronze are now big sister and brother! The duo is officially stepping into their new roles. And you can bet they’re so happy to meet their baby sister, Golden.
