In one of the wildest crossovers of 2025, Angel Reese, WNBA breakout star and self-proclaimed “Bayou Barbie,” has reportedly been cast as Sid the Sloth in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Ice Age — and the internet cannot decide if it’s a joke or a stroke of genius.
According to inside sources, Reese was chosen for her “unmatched charisma, scene-stealing expressions, and unapologetic energy” — all of which producers say made her perfect to bring the lovable, slightly chaotic Sid to life.
“She’s got that expressive face, the unexpected one-liners, and a presence that can’t be ignored,” said one anonymous casting director. “When she read for Sid, we couldn’t stop laughing.”
🎬 Who’s Playing Manny?

While casting for the grumpy-yet-loveable mammoth Manny is still unconfirmed, fans are already calling for Caitlin Clark — Reese’s on-court rival and fellow WNBA star — to join the project.
Social media had a field day with the idea of Reese and Clark bringing their fiery dynamic from the basketball court to the big screen.
“If Angel is Sid and Caitlin is Manny… this might be the greatest sports film never meant to be a sports film,” one X user joked.
Another wrote: “Finally, an Ice Age remake with real drama.”
🐾 Sid Responds… Sort Of
In the most on-brand twist of the story, reports say the original animated Sid the Sloth (voiced by John Leguizamo) was “disappointed but not surprised” by the casting.
“He reportedly shuffled away mumbling something about ‘not being consulted’ and then tripped over a rock,” said one sarcastic studio source.
Classic Sid.
🏀 From Hardwood to Hollywood
For Angel Reese, this is just the latest move in her ever-expanding empire. Between dominating the WNBA, snagging endorsement deals, and now venturing into acting, it’s clear: Angel’s going full Ice Age — global freeze and all.
And whether she’s draining buckets or dragging her sloth feet across an ancient tundra, one thing’s certain:
Angel Reese will always bring the drama.
Stay tuned for official casting updates — and maybe a teaser trailer with Sid in designer lashes and gold hoops.
