WNBA Finals Game is heading to overtime.
The New York Liberty and the Minnesota Lynx are tied, 2-2, in the 2024 Finals. They are also tied after four quarters in Game 5. Minnesota and New York are tied, 60-60, after four quarters. But the finish to regulation was a controversial one. Liberty star forward Breanna Stewart was “fouled” going to the basket, with five seconds remaining. She hit two free throws to tie the game and the Lynx were unable to take the lead as the clock expired, sending the game to overtime.
But was this really a foul?
That doesn’t look like a foul on Lynx forward Alanna Smith, does it? WNBA fans are not happy.
“This is a dark night for the WNBA…. Literally rigged game 5 of the finals…” one fan wrote.
“THE WNBA IS RIGGED CLEAR AS DAY,” one fan added.
“THAT IS 100% NOT A FOUL ON ALANNA SMITH. REFS MUST OVERTURN THIS OR S— IS RIGGED,” one fan added.
“The WNBA is rigged !!!!” one fan added.
Even NBA star LeBron James sounded off on the WNBA’s refs on Sunday evening.
“I’m sorry but that wasn’t a foul! Let the damn players dictate the outcome of a close battled tested game. 🤦🏾♂️,” he wrote.
Bill Simmons added: “The officiating in the last 90 seconds of this WNBA game was an absolute joke.”

Is this a foul?
