When Team Canada won the 4 Nations Face-Off championship on Feb. 20, captain Sidney Crosby notably handed Boston Bruins star Brad Marchand after he raised the trophy first.

While speaking with reporters following the game, including NESN’s Bridgette Proulx, Crosby revealed the reason for doing so.

“We were in Boston. He’s an older guy,” Crosby said about No. 63. “Him being in his home building here, and being right next to me worked out well.”

It was certainly kind of Crosby to give Marchand the opportunity to lift the trophy at TD Garden before the rest of his Team Canada teammates. It undoubtedly shows that No. 87 has a great deal of respect for Marchand, even with the Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins’ past battles.
