Travis Kelce is forecasting a storm of criticism — if the Kansas City Chiefs lose anytime soon.
On Wednesday’s episode of New Heights, the NFL star said he anticipates pushback about his relationship with Taylor Swift if his currently undefeated team drops a game.
“I’ve just got to keep winning, as soon as — if we lose a game, I mean, it’s going to f—ing rain down, baby,” Kelce, 35, told podcast guest Pat McAfee. “We’ve just got to keep winning, keep staying on top.”
As the world champs enjoy an unblemished record — despite enduring season-ending injuries to Hollywood Brown, Rashee Rice and, possibly, Isiah Pacheco — the tight end has withstood early criticism about his own slow start.
But College GameDay co-host McAfee had nothing but positive feedback regarding Kelce’s performance — on and off the field.
“You and Taylor’s relationship is great for the sport,” the retired NFL kicker said. “You are, and have been, the perfect representation for our sport. I think that there’s no other human that could do what you’re doing right now and how you’re doing it. It’s awesome.”
With Swift watching from a suite at Arrowhead Stadium for all three of the team’s home games this season, Kelce has also had his girlfriend of a year-plus in his corner.
As the Chiefs enjoyed their bye week, the couple was seen in New York City for dinner with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, and they pulled up at the New York Yankees-Cleveland Guardians playoff game on Monday, Oct. 14.
As Kelce watched his hometown team take on the Yankees, he shared that he had “mixed feelings” about the experience.
“I’m in hostile territory cause it’s the Bronx Bombers and I’m at Yankee Stadium and the playoffs, and I’m over here cheering for the Guards cause I’m a Cleveland kid and I want to see Cleveland win a f—ing World Series,” the Ohio native said the podcast.
Unfortunately for Kelce and his fellow Guardians fans, though, Cleveland lost games 1 and 2 to the Yankees, and are facing a 0-2 hole as the ALCS shifts to Ohio.
