VIDEO: Chicago Sky HC Tyler Marsh Nearly Punched The Living Daylights Out Of A Ref & Was Ejected In Crazy Scene

Chicago Sky head coach Tyler Marsh was ejected during the second quarter of Saturday’s home game against the Connecticut Sun after nearly accidentally knocking out a referee.

Tyler Marsh became furious after a controversial non-call after Elizabeth Williams missed an eight-foot shot. Connecticut forward Aaliyah Edwards appeared to have gotten away with a foul on the play, leading to a furious response from Marsh.

After the non-call, Marsh ran toward the referee and punched the air, narrowly making contact with him. The official wasted no time ejecting Marsh, who had to be held back by Angel Reese and his assistants:

The Sun went on to win 94-84, putting another dagger in Chicago’s playoff hopes. Per ESPN, Connecticut shot an impressive 51.5 percent from the field and made 8-of-20 three-point attempts.

Tyler Marsh Is Having A Tough First Season As Sky Head Coach

Marsh’s first season as head coach of the Sky certainly hasn’t gone as hoped. A recent back injury to the aforementioned Angel Reese hasn’t helped matters, but the Sky haven’t looked like a playoff-caliber team all season.

Now at 9-27, the Sky sit nine games out of the final playoff spot. Knowing that Saturday was an absolute must-win to keep their slim hopes alive, it’s no surprise that Marsh’s frustrations boiled over.

Angel Reese committed a vicious and unnecessary tactic on Leïla Lacan during Saturday’s game between the Chicago Sky and Connecticut Sun, and a fine should be on the way.

The Sky lost 94-84 to the Sun on Saturday, dropping them to 9-27 on the year and putting the dagger in their already slim playoff hopes. The loss may have been rock bottom for the Sky, who watched head coach Tyler Marsh get ejected after nearly punching a referee while questioning a non-call in the second quarter.

Marsh isn’t the only one who lost his composure on Saturday, though. Angel Reese also got immensely frustrated while being pressured by Lacan during a possession and proceeded to scratch her eye.

Cameras caught Leïla Lacan getting looked at by a team trainer after Angel Reese’s unsportsmanlike tactic:

Reese missed seven games earlier this month with a back injury, and Chicago went 1-6 without their All-Star sophomore. Her double-double on Saturday (11 points and 11 rebounds) went to waste in another disheartening defeat.Angel Reese shouting

Per ESPN, Reese is averaging 14.6 points, 12.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.4 steels per game in the 25 contests she’s suited up for. Her 46.2 field goal percentage is also a remarkable improvement from the lackluster 39.1 percentage she posted a year earlier.

It’s another lost season for the Sky, but Reese has cemented herself as a franchise cornerstone piece that the organization can build around long-term.
