Social media lip readers think they detected Caitlin Clark’s hilarious response to a message from Indiana Fever teammate Sophie Cunningham during Friday’s game against the Dallas Wings.
Caitlin Clark missed the game as she recovers from a nagging groin injury. Despite her absence, the Fever held on for an 88-78 road victory, improving their record to 16-12 on the season.
At one point during the game, cameras picked up Sophie Cunningham whispering something in Clark’s ear. Not wanting lip readers to detect the message, Cunningham wisely covered her mouth with a towel while speaking to Clark.
There’s no way of knowing what Cunningham said, but lip readers believe Caitlin Clark responded with, “Yup, I know. She hates me.”
It’s no secret that Clark isn’t exactly liked by a fair number of her opponents. It’s certainly fueled by jealousy (“the Caitlin Clark effect” is a real thing) and the desire to get as much attention as she receives.
Who exactly was Caitlin Clark (seemingly) accusing of hating her during the conversation with Cunningham? Consider it an unsolved mystery.

Unfortunately, various injuries have limited the 23-year-old Clark to 13 games during her sophomore year. There is still no timeline on when Clark, who also had to miss the All-Star weekend, will return.
