Sophie Cunningham is as tough as they come.
On Wednesday night, the Indiana Fever were back on the court, facing off against the Phoenix Mercury.
In the first quarter of that game, things got really physical.

Cunningham was attempting to guard star Satou Sabally after she grabbed a rebound from a missed shot. Unfortunately for her, Satou was attempting to keep the ball away from her and swinging her arms wildly.
Satou’s elbow would connect to Cunningham’s face, which sent her right to the ground in pain. Cunning immediately grabbed for her face in pain as she went down to her knees.
Refs stopped the game and would check on her before they went to review what happened.
In the meantime, Sophie Cunningham could be seen checking her mouth to ensure all her teeth were still in place.
Once it was all said and done, Satou received a technical foul instead of a flagrant. Cunningham stepped to the free-throw line and drained the shot.

Former Phoenix Mercury Sophie Cunningham got a chance to play against her old team on Wednesday night.
Cunningham came up clutch in the fourth quarter.
The former Missouri women’s basketball star had a 4-point play and nine total points in the fourth quarter to help her squad pull away and knock off the Phoenix Mercury 107-101 on Wednesday night.
Playing against the team where she spent the first six seasons of her WNBA career for the first time since an offseason trade to Indiana, Cunningham splashed in a clutch three-pointer while drawing a foul and knocking down the free throw afterward.
Cunningham finished with 12 points on a 4-of-6 mark from the field and a 1-of-3 mark from 3-point range.
