South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley and her staff took their victory celebrations to Disney World, following the Gamecocks’ championship win over the Iowa Hawkeyes.
The victory parade featured Staley and her assistants riding through Disney, adorned in Gamecocks championship gear and iconic Mickey Mouse ears, spreading joy and excitement.
Amid the festivities, it was noticeable that no players joined Staley on the celebratory trip, suggesting that only the coaching staff participated in the Disney World adventure.
Dawn Staley has been enjoying the past three weeks after winning the NCAA championship by 87-75 against Caitlin Clark’s Iowa. From her trip to Paris to seeing Serena Williams, watching the UEFA Champions League soccer match, and receiving presents from Beyonce, Staley has been reaping the benefits of her successful season.
Dawn Staley already looking into WBB’s future
Fresh off her national championship success, Dawn Staley is already plotting the future of women’s college basketball after the departure of Iowa sensation Caitlin Clark to the WNBA. In an interview, Staley praised Clark for her impact on women’s basketball.

“Caitlin Clark is a superstar,” Staley said. “We’re creating more eyeballs on our sport, and we need to thank her for that. I’m all for the greater good of our game. If she’s a big part of it, we need to find the next superstar that would take our game to the next level.”
While Clark had her moments throughout the 2023–24 season, Staley made history with the Gamecocks, winning the NCAA Championship. Beyoncé herself sent a heartfelt note and gifts to congratulate Staley following South Carolina’s national championship win.
“To Coach Staley and the entire South Carolina Gamecocks, me and my family watched your games and cheered you on through the entire season. I am so proud of you. All my love,” the pop sensation wrote.
With a spotless record of 38-0 last season, Staley has strengthened her status as a legend in women’s college basketball. She has won accolades such as the AP Coach of the Year and boasts an extraordinary overall record of 109-3 in three seasons.
