Women’s basketball legends Dawn Staley and Sheryl Swoopes talked about everything under the sun in one of the episodes of the “NETLIFE with Dawn Staley” podcast, which premiered on YouTube on Mar. 12, 2022. Swoopes left Staley in splits during their hour-long conversation after she revealed to the South Carolina Gamecocks coach her dream NIL deal if she played in today’s sporting landscape.

Swoopes had to think for a few seconds before answering, with her reply catching Staley off-guard

The popular candy bar brand is manufactured by Mars Inc., which is owned by the Mars family. The Mars family is reported to be the second-richest family in the United States, with an estimated net worth of $117 billion. Staley chuckled while replying to Swoopes as she got hold of the latter’s NIL answer.
“Snickers, OK. Snickers, you heard that,” Staley said while laughing with Swoopes.
Snickers has recently shown its support for women’s basketball, agreeing to an NIL deal with Amiah Simmons earlier this year. Simmons made waves with the Alabama A&M Bulldogs in the 2023-24 season, averaging 15.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists.
She recently transferred to the San Jose State Spartans, where she’s averaging 5.2 points through six games.
Dawn Staley and Sheryl Swoopes joined forces for Team USA in the Olympics
Dawn Staley and Sheryl Swoopes reached the pinnacle of women’s basketball together, winning the Olympics three consecutive times with Team USA from 1996 to 2004.
They first won the gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Games, beating Brazil 111-87 in the final. Swoopes and Staley contributed to the championship win, averaging 13.0 and 4.1 points, respectively.

Staley and Swoopes helped Team USA defend the title at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, beating host nation Australia 76-54 in the final. Swoopes made her mark Down Under, averaging 13.4 points in the tournament. Staley also played her part in the gold medal win, averaging 4.0 points through eight games.
They completed the Olympic three-peat at the 2004 Athens Games, beating Australia 74-63 in the gold medal match. Swoopes and Staley remained integral parts of Team USA, averaging 9.1 and 4.1 points, respectively, in the tournament.
