COLUMBIA — South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley, who was born and raised in Philadelphia, weighed in on her hometown 76ers’ NBA playoff game on Thursday night.
Halfway through Game 3 of the Eastern Conference playoffs series between the 76ers and New York Knicks, Staley posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, “don’t want to jinx this thing but LET’S GOOOOO @sixers! Finish IT!!”

No worries. Staley didn’t jinx her hometown team.
The 76ers won 125-114, but the Knicks lead the series 2-1.
Staley’s positive post came just two nights after she didn’t shy away from showing her disappointment after the 76ers’ Game 2 loss.
In a series of posts on X, Staley wrote “expletive @sixers” and tweeted a picture of a 76ers hoodie, saying “just took this off but did not slam it down.”
While Staley has lived in South Carolina since 2008, her Philly roots run deep and she’s never hid her support.

She has donned Philadelphia Eagles jerseys while coaching the Gamecocks and posts on social media frequently in support of the 76ers.
Staley coached at Temple University in Philadelphia from 2000-2008, where she was named Philadelphia’s “Best College Coach” in Philadelphia Magazine’s “Best of Philly” edition.
