INDIANAPOLIS–Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark did not endorse a Presidential candidate when she was asked Wednesday night about liking an Instagram post from singer Taylor Swift.
In that post after Tuesday night’s Presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, Swift endorsed Harris for President.
Clark said she wants to use her platform to encourage people to vote just like Swift did.

“I think for myself this is the second time I can vote in an election at the age of 22 since I could first vote when I was 18. I could vote when I was 18, so I think, do that. That’s the biggest thing I can do with the platform that I have, and that’s the same thing Taylor did,” said Clark.
Clark encouraged everyone to educate themselves about the candidates and the policies they support.
Fever Head Coach Christie Sides was also asked about it and she said it is great that women in the WNBA have strong opinions and that they stand up for things they believe in.
“It’s really awesome to to watch women in this league, both coaches and players, voice their opinion on things and feel really strongly about it. It’s just like you said, that’s just who we’ve been in this league. We get behind something, and we want to show our support, whatever it is,” said Sides.
On September 10, Clark was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week, making her the first rookie in both WNBA and NBA history to be named the Player of the Week for three consecutive weeks.
The Fever are also going to the WNBA playoffs this year. It’s their first playoff berth since 2016.
